A SMALL scale renewable energy wind turbine scheme has been given the green light.
Plans for two micro-scale wind turbines in Little Clacton Road, Great Holland, have been approved by Tendring Council’s planning committee.
The application was referred to the committee at the request of ward member Robert Bucke.
A previous bid for one turbine on the same site was refused under delegated powers and successfully defended on appeal.
But the applicants, Mr and Mrs Salmon, came back with a new scheme, reducing the height of the structure by almost three meters.
The proposal was objected to by Frinton and Walton Town Council and the district council also received one letter of objection.
But the plans were passed by the planning committee with nine votes in favour and two against.
Carlo Guglielmi, cabinet member for planning, welcomed the decision.
“This is very low scale production of renewable energy for the family that lives here and not on a commercial scale – we are not talking about the Blackpool Tower,” he said.
“We have granted permission in the past for literally dozens of these all over the countryside.”
